Meet Your Maryland Wedding Photographer: Jewelsy Edition

Hi friends!! I’m the girl behind the camera probably yelling, “oh my GOSH YASSS,” and low-key being a weirdo.

I have loved photography for honestly as long as I remember. I started out taking photos of my little brother and my cousins in our my grandparents back yard just for fun on a point and shoot camera and my iPhone 4. Then my parents got me my first “official” camera in middle school, which I used to (again) take photos of random things around the house and making my brother model for me. I definitely thought I was super cool back then. When I got into high school, I found out there was a photography class, which I fell in LOVE with. I took photography all 3 years in high school (I graduated a year early).

I didn’t officially start doing photos professionally until about 2 years ago, but I spent a lot of time taking senior photos my senior year and first year of college!

Now this is where things take a turnnnn… I decided I didn’t need to go to college for photography and I could teach myself, which is why I consider myself mostly self-taught. I changed my major to nursing, and I just became licensed as an LPN and I’m starting a new nursing job very soon! Although, photography is where my entire heart is. I love literally everything about it. Overall, I love meeting all of the amazing people I get to work with and being able to call them my friends by the end! I’m hoping to be full time by 2022 and that’s when alllll of my dreams will come true.

You also might not know that I am such a perfectionist when it comes to photography. Everything needs to be PERFECT. I stare at my photos at least 70% of the day analyzing them. I also spend so much time working on making sure my client experience is top tier because my clients DESERVE THE BEST. My goal is to make sure you are so obsessed and in love with every single photo you get back.

My style of photography has definitely changed over time, but I feel like I’m finally right where I want to be! I’ve tried to edit different ways, but I always always always come back to warm images. I love the feel that warm images give, and how happy they make you feel.

Back to client experience, at a session with me, be prepared to have fun and please don’t be scared to get a little dirty!! You’re definitely going to be jumping around, tickling each other, rolling around in the grass, and getting in the water. Is there any other way? No. Will you be having fun and laughing the entire time? Absolutely. Will I say things that are a little awkward? Yes. Will you be laughing, even if it’s at me? Also yes. Don’t forget that if you guys do something really cute and sappy, I probably will cry. I can’t help it okay!!!

I leave every session with funny stories to tell, such as me running to the other side of the field because I saw a deer antler, or falling into water because I want to perfect shot and completely forgot what my surroundings were… it be like that sometimes, right?!

Some random facts about me:

I’m married! My husband and I met in 2016 at the very end of high school, started dating shortly after, and got married in 2018!

I have two Australian Shepherds! They are my children.

I always say my favorite color is yellow, but it might be orange (I can’t decideeeee)

I binge watch Netflix shows like there’s no tomorrow.

Country music is where it’s AT and you cannot convince me otherwise (don’t tell my parents, I used to tell them I hated it).

Anyyyywho…

I feel that it’s so important that you get along with your wedding photographer super well. You might be thinking, “well if I like your photos, why do we need to get along?” Well, while that’s definitely important when choosing your wedding photographer, you’re also going to be around them 90% of the time on your wedding day. You’re going to be hanging with them in the bridal suite while you’re getting ready, and with them on the dance floor. You want someone that’s going to hype you up, wipe your happy tears without messing up your makeup, fluffing your dress, and all around making your day that. much. better. Someone’s that feels like family and like you’ve known them forever.
